You fall in love, get married, and then what comes next? Some newlyweds decide on starting a family right after while there are others that wait a few years. Looking for a home that fits your family perfectly, spacious, and secure is one of the considered priorities when planning for your family. Now the million-peso question: Should you get a condo for your family to live in? We think the real question is: Why not? Here are a few reasons we can think of that say you should consider a condo as an ideal home for your new family.
a. Create a list of everything to keep.
Before you start packing, decide what are the things you’d like to bring to your new home. Make an inventory list to choose what you wish to keep, sell, or donate, and get rid of.
b. Gather packing supplies.
You want to make sure that your things are stored safely. You don’t want to unpack broken items and must replace them for your new home. With that, gather moving supplies such as boxes, tapes, bubble wrap and so on that will be needed to keep your things secure.
c. Update your mailing address.
To avoid any mail confusion, head to your local post office and file a change of address for your new home.
d. Look for Movers.
Book a moving service before the planned date. Choose an accredited company because you are entrusting them with your valuables while they are in transit.
a. Start packing items you don’t often use.
You may begin to pack some unnecessary items that you frequently use for less stress in preparation for your move out. These items might include decorations, books, and other seasonal items.
b. Advise your insurance company about your coverage.
Make an appointment for policy transfers of your insurance and set them up at your new address. Your rate may change depending on where you live.
c. Make basic repairs before moving out.
If you plan to sell your house or condo unit, deal with any small repairs. It is easier to sell the space once the repairs are completed.
a. Schedule the cut-off/activation dates for your utilities.
If you’re keeping your old utility provider, make sure to contact them and transfer all your utilities for a smooth transition in your new home. Don’t forget also to disconnect other utility services in your old home.
b. Confirm with your movers.
Call your moving company to make sure that the time and date of your move out is finalized to avoid surprises when it’s time to pack up and leave. Make sure you both have the same details and service agreements.
c. Start Packing and Label it
Aim to finish your packing in a few days to ensure the moving process goes smoothly. From your essentials and other non-day-to-day belongings. After that, don’t forget to label it so you’ll now exactly where to look for. Get these things right away so you don’t have to worry about before the move in date.
a. Do a final walkthrough.
After everything has been packed and loaded into the moving truck, take one last sweep of your space and review your moving list. Check the shelves, cabinets, and storage areas to see that you have got everything out.
b. Arrive first at your new home.
Be sure that the movers know where they’re going. It is easier to unload your things to direct the movers where items should be placed if you are the first one to arrive in your new home.
a. Deep clean and unpack.
Make sure your new place is properly clean before you unpack and designate your things. Begin with big stuff and all the way down to smaller items.
b. Celebrate!
Organize a housewarming party to have some fun with your family, friends and relatives for having a place you can call home.
With proper planning and preparation, you can complete all of the tasks on your to-do list while still having time to rest and relax.
